Reporting Reel

This reel consists of four stand-ups and two packages shot in a day in Washington D.C. It shows my talents as a general news, features and breaking on-air reporter. The packages I chose demonstrate my interest in hard news and my ability to marry seamlessly intimate interviews with broader picture analysis on political, human rights, policy and business stories.

The first feature shows me interviewing a dismissed transgender Navy officer at D.C’s Navy Memorial and gives some insight into the situation of transgender military service people in the United States. This is followed by a lighter business story about the connection between U.S. basketball leagues and trainer sales, in which I go wheeling and dealing in a trading pit at the country’s biggest Sneakercon.

BBC Reporting Clips

The reel above does not include pieces I have had aired on BBC World TV or for BBC Trending, which you can see separately below. The first aired on BBC World News America and World TV in May and takes viewers underground in one of the most popular parks in America’s capital to explore an unlikely arts project.

The second is about a new app that lets you invent a boyfriend or girlfriend to use as a ‘cover-up’ to stop friends bugging you about your non-existent love life. But, as I tell you in the video, that’s not what many used the app for.
